Some cities exude romance. Roses and candlelight have nothing on these romantic destinations. Here are 10 of the most romantic cities in the world.
It’s on our list of best cities to visit in 2018 and it makes this list for being just as gorgeous as Barcelona and Madrid yet more affordable. Seville is beautiful, seductive and an easy choice for a lover’s retreat.
Papeete, French Polynesia
I don’t think this entry needs any explaining, but just in case:
Reason 1: Perfect weather (average high and low in February is 88 F and 75 F)
Reason 2: Ocean. Beach. Beautiful blue water.
Reason 3: Lagoons, volcanoes and caves are all nearby and ready for exploration. (Orrrr lay out on the beach like a bum.)
Located high in the Andes Mountains, Salta is the perfect lover’s escape. Its beauty is literally breathtaking– Salta is at pretty high elevation. But if you can catch your breath, you and your partner can explore cathedrals, wineries and even cable car rides over the city.
Even the name sounds romantic. Go ahead and say it– Casablanca– it just rolls off the tongue. It’s also the city at the center of the romantic drama of the same name. But what makes it so alluring is the natural mix of old and new all gathered on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
Quebec City, Canada
Quebec is frigidly cold in February, but that just gives love-birds a chance to stay in and snuggle up. If you do make it out into the city, you’ll notice romantic architecture, sumptuous food and a picture-perfect skyline reflected in the St. Lawrence River.
Ok, so Okunoshima isn’t a city, exactly. It’s more of an island. An island inhabited by hundreds of rabbits. I don’t care who you are or who you love, this island is fluffy cuteness on overdrive and there’s almost no where better to take the love of your life.
It’s tropical, it’s got great weather, it’s an island escape– I don’t think I need to say much more.
Home to Bollywood and ancient cave temples, Mumbai is a feast for the senses. Mumbai is also a daunting city, home to more than 18 million people. But that just means more for you and your partner to explore.
The architecture is divine, the cuisine is world-class and the city is home to world-renowned hot springs. You’d be hard pressed to find a reason not to visit, and all the better if you’re with someone you love.
In Maputo, you’ll be far off the beaten track of well-known romantic spots. Maputo is a gorgeous southeastern African city with Mediterranean-style architecture, laid back cafes, and avenues lined with flame trees. You’ll have this seaside city to yourself. And really, what’s better than sharing something between you and your sweetheart?
