I was drinking my morning coffee and reading this Medium post by Scott Riddle. It changed my day. Riddle found he has stage 4 colorectal cancer and he might only have a few months to live. His message to the world is clear:
Don’t wait for the perfect opportunity, the perfect timing, the undeniable sign.
In Riddle’s words:
“Stop just assuming you have a full lifetime to do whatever it is you dream of doing.”
“I know is sounds ridiculously cliched, and of course you never think it will happen to you, but let me assure you that life really can be taken from you at any time, so live it with that reality in mind.”
Riddle reminded me I need to travel. It’s silly, I work for a travel publication, it’s practically my job to travel. But, like most of us, I became busy with life and filled with excuses.
If you love to travel, or think you love to travel, or even just have one place, one monument you need to see and experience, plan it now. Because the day will come where you won’t be able to.
