Brothers
The 1895 Coakley and Durham building has been a retail hub for generations in Campbellsville. Originally D.W. Gowdy’s General Store, it later served as a clothing store, Coakley & Durham Dry Goods, an appliance retailer, and a café. The building’s storefront was created by the Meskers, a prominent family of facade manufacturers that designed thousands of commercial buildings across the country in the early 20th century.
Today, this downtown anchor houses Brothers, a welcoming barbecue joint that combines Kansas City sauce, Texas brisket, and North Carolina pulled pork into a meaty fusion. In a simple dining room with a historic tin ceiling and original brick walls, you can dig into a slab of St. Louis ribs or a heaping BBQ sandwich topped with melted cheese and sweet or spicy sauce. To find it? Just follow the smoked meat aroma down Main Street.
