Dinsmore Homestead

Dinsmore Homestead offers a unique look at Kentucky’s plantation economy and the African American experience. Located in Burlington, this 19th-century Greek Revival home is full of original artifacts, from historic furniture to family photos to home goods owned by five generations of the Dinsmore family. Here, you’ll find the stories of the enslaved people who lived and worked on the property through the original slave quarters, farming and cooking tools, and home records. Learn about their lives on the farm and their work weaving baskets, making wine, and farming the land. Guided tours are offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons.

Accessibility: Accessible parking is available next to the office and gift shop for those with mobility concerns. Much of the grounds are wheelchair accessible, and there is a wheelchair ramp at the back of the house for access to the first floor.

Four people stand outside a stone-walled, rectangular cemetery with old gravestones, surrounded by dense green trees and grass. The cemetery is in a forested area.
