Kirchhoff’s Bakery & Deli

The 19th century saw waves of German and Prussian immigrants to Kentucky, seeking new opportunities in a new country. One such immigrant was Franz Kirchhoff, a Prussian baker who emigrated to Paducah in 1873 and began selling bread and baked goods to workers and passengers on docked steamboats. In 1884, he moved his business into a new brick building, where the Kirchhoff Bakery continued until shutting its doors in 1957. Forty years later, his descendants reacquired the building and re-opened Kirchhoff’s Bakery and Deli, where it thrives today!

Handmade artisan bread, hearty soups, and heaping deli sandwiches are the daily fare. Pop in for soup and a sandwich in the welcoming historic deli, or take home a crusty loaf of Rustic Olive, Garlic Tuscan, or Cinnamon Raisin bread. And peruse the bakery cases for pastries, cookies, and sweet treats baked fresh daily!

Two pairs of people sit at separate tables, chatting and smiling outside a storefront with large “Kirchhoff’s” signage. The setting is relaxed, with green brick walls and large windows behind them.
