Lyric Theater
In Lexington’s historic East End, the Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center stands as a tribute to African American arts and culture. Once a major stop on the “Chitlin’ Circuit,” it welcomed legends like James Brown, Tina Turner, and B.B. King. Featured in the Green Book, it provided a safe and vibrant space for Black performers and audiences during segregation.
Today, the Lyric is more than a theater—it’s a living cultural hub. With performances, a museum, an art gallery, and community programs, it continues to uplift Black heritage and creativity.
Accessibility: The Lyric Theatre has wheelchair-accessible entrances and seating for visitors of all mobility levels.
