Located on the southwestern tip of St.Croix, Sandy Point Beach is two miles long, only open on weekends, and is part of the Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge. The beach is remote and has no facilities, so visitors should pack what they need for the day. Beyond swimming and soaking up the sun, the beach is also a prime spot for hiking and keeping an eye out for wildlife (Sandy Point is a habitat for over 100 bird species). Be aware the beach is closed from April through August to protect nesting leatherback sea turtles.
