U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial

The U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial honors the fallen marines that have given their lives to their country. The memorial is reminiscent of Iwo Jima during World War II. It depicts six marines raising the American flag after the five-week-long military campaign where nearly 7,000 marines lost their lives in combat. The memorial is a sight to behold, standing at about 78 feet tall. The flag on the monument flies 24 hours a day.
