Weedon Island Preserve

Located on Tampa Bay, Weedon Island Preserve is a lush outdoor experience. Paddle the four-mile kayaking trail or take a stroll through the preserve on the hiking trail. Walk along the boardwalks to see tidal flats and mangrove forests, which are home to mullet and wading birds. The west boardwalk loop includes the 45-foot observation tower with overarching views of the park and, on clear days, views of Tampa Bay and St. Pete. To learn about the area’s rich history, visit the Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center where interactive exhibits explore the island’s natural and cultural significance. Explore exhibits on the Native Americans, the Weeden Island people, who lived on the island over 1,000 years ago. The center’s design was created with the help of Native Americans to honor their traditions.
