Home to major recording studios, music labels, and countless live entertainment venues, Nashville isn’t called “Music City” for nothing!  From legendary stages to immersive museums, here are some of Nashville’s must-visit spots for music lovers.

Storytellers Hideaway Farm & Museum

Step into the life of Johnny Cash at his secluded “hideaway,” where he’d escape the spotlight and reconnect with the simple life. The tour begins at Storytellers, a museum featuring rare memorabilia, including a Cadillac tied to Cash’s hit, “One Piece at a Time.” The experience wraps up at Hideaway Farm, where you’ll explore the Cash family’s cherished grounds and farmhouse. The farm also hosts live music performances!

Ryman Auditorium

As one of Nashville’s most iconic venues, the Ryman Auditorium is both a historical treasure and a hub for top-notch entertainment. Take a guided tour of this 2,300-seat venue, once a church that hosted lectures by figures like Booker T. Washington before transforming into the Grand Ole Opry’s home for over three decades. Today, the Ryman hosts legendary performers like ZZ Top, Amy Grant, and Ringo Starr.

The Gallery of Iconic Guitars

Head to Belmont University’s campus to explore The Gallery of Iconic Guitars, where some of the world’s rarest stringed instruments are on display. Here, you’ll see pieces like the 1939 Martin D-45, one of only 91 ever made. Other exhibits highlight acoustic guitar body styles, mandolins designed by Lloyd Loar, and the fascinating evolution of string instruments. This is a paradise for guitar enthusiasts!

National Museum of African American Music

The National Museum of African American Music offers a powerful tribute to the influence of Black culture on today’s music landscape. Journey through six galleries where immersive films, interactive touch panels, and artifacts from legends like Billie Holiday, B.B. King, and Sarah Vaughan bring music history to life. Add the digital wristband to your admission, letting you download videos, songs, and multimedia memories from the exhibits to enjoy after you leave.

The Patsy Cline Museum

Located on the second floor of the Johnny Cash Museum, the Patsy Cline Museum honors this beloved singer-songwriter and her unforgettable legacy. Discover Patsy’s world through her personal letters, wedding photos, and show-stopping stage outfits – including pieces hand-made by her mother. Before you leave, browse the gift shop for unique keepsakes, including colorful vinyl records signed by her daughter.

Grand Ole Opry

A trip to Nashville wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Grand Ole Opry! Known as the heart of country music, the Opry began as a radio show in the 1920s and evolved into a renowned country music stage. Take a tour to learn about its storied history, and if you catch a live show, you’ll witness an unforgettable lineup of artists – think Carrie Underwood and Dolly Parton. No two shows are ever the same!

Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a dream come true for country music fans. As one of the largest museums dedicated to this genre, it boasts iconic artifacts like Elvis Presley’s gold Cadillac, Dolly Parton’s handwritten lyrics, and Patsy Cline’s glamorous costumes. Throughout interactive exhibits, you’ll hear original recordings, view rare photos, and even try your hand at mixing a track or crafting lyrics like the pros.

Johnny Cash Museum

Calling all Johnny Cash fans! The Johnny Cash Museum holds the world’s most extensive collection of Cash artifacts and memorabilia. This immersive museum traces the journey from Cash’s Air Force days to his marriage with June Carter, plus his groundbreaking contributions across genres, illustrated through LPs, CDs, and 8-tracks. Before leaving, snap a selfie with the Johnny Cash statue on display.
