2. Stroll through beautiful botanical gardens.

With thousands of native and desert-adapted plants, the Las Vegas Springs Preserve is a welcome oasis just minutes from The Strip. In nearby Henderson, explore 3 acres of ornamental cacti and succulents at Ethel M Chocolates’ Botanical Cactus Garden.

3. Window shop in open-air retail districts.

Stroll the palm-tree lined promenades as you take in views of hundreds of shops, restaurants, and sophisticated architecture at sprawling outdoor shopping complexes such as Town Square Las Vegas, just south of The Strip on Las Vegas Boulevard, and Downtown Summerlin, 25 minutes west of The Strip.

4. Walk among hundreds of historic neon signs.

Take a trip down memory lane as you meander through more than 200 unrestored neon signs from the 1930s through today when you go on a guided tour of the Boneyard at The Neon Museum.

5. Go for a gondola ride.

Glide along smooth waters as an experienced gondolier navigates the way beneath an Italian-style bridge and in front of The Venetian Resort during this ride, dubbed “the most romantic thing to do in Las Vegas” by USA Today.

6. Horseback ride through desert landscapes.

Go on a guided horseback ride along desert trails with Cowboy Trail Rides. Marvel at the blazing red rock formations of nearby Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and the surrounding desert flora: shrubby piñon- junipers, spiky Joshua trees, and all manner of cacti.

7. Walk on the wild side at exotic animal attractions.

Spot a flock of Chilean flamingos and watch pelican feedings at the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat on the grounds of the Flamingo Las Vegas. Watch dolphins play, white lions and leopards lounge at Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden, and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage. Or venture to nearby Henderson to see big cats, wild birds, and a painting giraffe at Lion Habitat Ranch.
