A retreat to the cozy bed and breakfasts of New England is just the ticket for you. Between school, work and upcoming holidays, fall can be an incredibly stressful time. The fall foliage, rural charm and fresh air of New England are just right for relaxation and rejuvenation. Head to the “quiet corner” of Connecticut for antiquing, Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire for a little fall magic or Vermont’s maple tree forests for natural beauty.

The days are getting shorter, the weather is cooling, and after a little introspection, you realize you need to get away from it all. Driving Big Sur’s coastline in California is just what you need. Its rugged and wild terrine will stir up your creative juices so don’t leave your sketchpad or notebook at home.

You can feel the change in seasons and it’s given you the urgency to get outside and do something. Hiking Colorado’s mountain trails will scratch the itch to get outdoors. Colorado has adventures for all levels, from hardcore wilderness experts to those that want to hike a trail during the day then sip on wine at night. Hike Mt. Bierstadt in Georgetown for spectacular views of the aspen trees. Elk Falls Overlook in Pine is great if you want to stay close to Denver or Maroon Bells in Aspen for a classic Colorado lake and mountain view.

The shift to fall brings out your desire to bake and eat. You want to taste, smell and touch seasonal treats that will bring you closer to the season. A trip to Montreal will delight the senses and leave you satisfied. The foodie scene is entrenched in the culture– good food is just a way of life in Montreal. And the city is especially pretty in the fall. Make new friends, eat, drink and be merry.
