The Mother Spring

Pagosa’s Mother Spring is the source of all the hot spring pools in the area and perhaps the town’s most noteworthy attraction. After all, Pagosa is the Ute word for “healing waters.” Nestled between The Springs Resort and the Bank of the San Juans, the spring is more than 1000 feet deep and certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the deepest spring aquifer.

Mist surrounds a thermal hot spring with stone structures and green mineral deposits. Water cascades over the edge. In the background, cloudy skies and buildings with tall windows and pointed roofs are visible.
